Want to build a YouTube channel from scratch?
Recently, I’ve gotten a lot of inquiries about building a YouTube channel and this is wonderful except I don’t even consider myself an expert at YouTube.
I am still learning a lot about the platform and striving to get better everyday.
But I’ve gotten enough questions about it that I wanted to write a post sharing some of the best educational resources out there on YouTube.
These resources are from people I’ve watched build their channels from scratch.
For some of them, I’ve watched them build their successful YouTube business steadily over the course of the five years I’ve been a blogger.
If you’d like to learn how to build a wildly successful YouTube channel and business (not just Adsense money), this post is for you.
Ready? Let’s get into it.
Please note: I am an affiliate for these resources. This means if you click on the link and purchase a resource, I will be paid a commission for referring you. This is at no extra cost to you. I only recommend products I truly believe in.
Build a YouTube Channel from scratch with these 7 brilliant resources
YouTube Made Simple – One Big Happy Life
I came across the One Big Happy Life channel about two years ago when they had about 20,000 subscribers. At that time, they had not even been on YouTube for a year but they had quickly built a following and had several viral videos.
As of this writing, they have 166,000 subscribers and they achieved that in under 3 years.
So yeah, they are first on my list resources to learn from.
I remember when Joseph started his YouTube channel because I started around the same time.
Well, in 18 months, he was able to grow his channel to 75,000 subscribers.
Joseph also has a bunch of blogs and is an all-around brilliant business person.
You can get his course for 35% off with a special discount Joseph was kind to let me have.
Alternatively, you could buy Joseph’s Amazon eBook, also called Crushing YouTube.
YouTube Secrets – Sean Cannell & Benji Travis
This is a book by Sean Cannell and Benji Travis of the YouTube Channel Video Influencers.
Video Influencers has 517,000+ subscribers as of this writing.
Sean’s individual channel Think Media has over 800,000 subscribers.
Benji’s channel has over 300,000 subscribers.
Needless to say they are a powerhouse of YouTube brilliance and everyone needs to learn from them.
I had the privilege of attending a 2-day live conference that Sean Cannell hosted in Las Vegas in September of last year and it was a blast!
The biggest lesson I took from the conference was to remain put my head down and just build.
This is where I learned that consistency with your content, message and effort is will help you build a more sustainable business than going viral.
Vlog Like A Boss – Amy Landino
Vlog like a boss was written by Amy Landino and is an excellent resource not just for people who want to do YouTube for business.
It’s excellent if you want to build the kind of lifestyle-business brand Amy has built for herself.
Thankfully, she wrote a book sharing all her secrets.
Jab Jab Jab Right Hook – Gary Vaynerchuk
Although this is not a strict YouTube resource, I have to add it in here because the author, Gary Vaynerchuk got his start online largely due to making videos about the wine in his father’s shop.
While, I’m no wine drinker, I do agree that Gary has valuable tips in this book about building a loyal audience who will later support you when you’re ready to sell.
I love this because we live in an era where people really want to know who they’re buying from.
They want to trust you.
They want to like you and what you stand for.
And as you’ll learn from this book, video is a powerful way to do just that.
TubeBuddy is a wonderful tool for doing YouTube SEO and perhaps I’ll create a whole post on using TubeBuddy.
However, I love that TubeBuddy is not just a piece of software but is committed to helping people research their YouTube videos before they ever create them.
If you’re just starting out on YouTube, I highly recommend TubeBuddy as a tool for your channel.
And I highly recommend their YouTube channel for learning all there is to know about growing on YouTube.
Any one of these resources or a combination of them will help you build a successful YouTube channel from scratch.
